St. Mary’s

Pensive worried tired people
Screaming children leave nerves raw
Another night at St. Mary’s
Not enough to save them all

There must be a plethora of germs in the air
How long can they hold their breath?
The smell of vomit, the smell of pine
The smell of poverty, the smell of death

Too many people
Too many worries
Too much pain
Too many cries
Not enough money
To put in the offering
Can’t pay the bill
Must pay the price
Take two aspirin
Don’t call me tomorrow
Go back home
Pray for your lives

There are no angels of mercy here
There are no angels here
There is only procedures and numbers and gauges
There are no angels of mercy here
